Antique GH Bishop & Co. Hand Saw. Rip Saw. 6teeth per inch. Brass saw nuts with Medallion in the handle, "Pat Dec 27,1887" Believe it dates from the late 1800s. Made in Cincinnati Ohiosometime between 1882 and 1899.
Blade has readable dark lettering. “Geo. H.Bishop ~ Speed and Ease ~ {winged Griffon picture} ~ No. 8 ~ Cincinnati, O.,USA ~ This saw is hand made and, with great care, is fully warranted and recommended~ for its Excellency and Durability ~ George H. Bishop”
Dimensions: Blade is 26" long;tip is 2.25” high; widest part of blade is approx. 7” high. Length with handle is overall length withhandle is 29".
Condition: Very good collectible condition. Mentionable issues: 1) Some roughness and paint residue to handle, 2) Two corrosion spots on left side near teeth on end closes to handle (see photo #11), and 3) a 1" dark line (not a dent or scrape) on top right side closes to handle (visible in photo #7). No broken teeth. Side lettering is well preserved and legible. Blade straight without bends. Solid and tightly joined to handle.
