Beautiful Antique French Ormolu Casket

2.5” tall

3” wide

2.5” depth

Beveled glass

Red velvet on the bottom

On inside lid: Embossed gold foil with floral design

On front:

Image of Baby Jesus with the words:

MEMENTO BETHLEHEM

Inside:

- A piece of stone with red twine.

-The words: Ex Crypta Nativitatis D.N. J. C.

-Red Wax Seal with red threads

Translates to the crypt/covered ground room/cave of the birth of Our Lord Jesus Christ

My research: I showed this to a very knowledgeable person who buys and sells religious relics. He believes it is from the 19th century.

The red wax seal insures the integrity of the relic. A seal with the Jerusalem or Crusader Cross indicates it was sealed by the Franciscan Custodians of the Holy Land.
