The Grand Antique Mall, located in Cincinnati, Ohio, presents an Antique French FORTIN RENNES 3-Piece Set Figural Mantle Clock and 2 Matching Cherub Garnitures. Patinated bronze/brass cast spelter. Acanthus leaves, scrolls, flowers, and classical motifs adorn the 3 pieces in the set, and each has a rouge/pink/violet marble base with ormolu scroll feet at each corner. The mantle clock features a sculpture of the goddess Fortuna, who holds a cornucopia of gold coins in her left hand. Both garnitures feature cupid on front and back, thus reinforcing the theme of abundant fortune in love and money. The porcelain clock face has 2 winding holes. The clock strikes on the hour and on the half. On the face is FORTIN RENNES. Black Arabic numbers, black metal hands, and original beveled glass door. On the bevelled glass door’s interior rim is the Roman numeral XVII. The clock movements show the serial number 24390, and numbers 3 (or 5?), 8 at the lower center. On the back of each garniture: FRANCE. Circa: 1870. CONDITION: VERY GOOD for all 3 pieces. The clock has been tested and found to be in working condition. Cleaned and oiled. Fine artistry. Shows very little wear. No cracks in the marble or in the sculpted pieces. 8 PIECE SET includes all original parts: 2 metal inserts for candleholders, 1 pendulum, 1 bell, 1 winding key, 1 clock, 2 garnitures.
