Founded in 1864 in Elgin, Illinois, just as the American Civil War was coming to an end, the company released its first watch to the market in 1867, an 18 sized BW Raymond railroad grade pocket watch - for more information on the brand - watch was my grandmothers (likely my great-grandmothers first) and it does not have a chain - It does not work - I can\'t get it opened to locate the serial number - this is perfect for collectors, watch repair, or artists that want to upccyle this super cool piece. It is a basic design - the case is likely gold plate, though in researching most are 14K. I\'ve seen the same watch dated anywhere from 1909 to 1927, but I\'m not an expert.
