Antique Double Woven Red & White Snowball and Pine Tree Variation Coverlet:

This beautiful red and white double woven coverlet is loom-made with turkey red wool and white cotton, with two 37\" woven panels stitched by hand together. The pattern of the coverlet is a variation of the Snowball and Pine Tree border with alternating nine patch designs with two or four snowballs in the middle, separated by narrow bands with diamond shapes. There is a 7” border of pine trees on three sides. The coverlet is finished with red wool and white cotton fringe on three sides. The fourth side is woven off and hand stitched and cross stitched. The coverlet dates back to the first quarter of the 19th century. It is in very good condition with two small worn spots and some stains in various areas. Please see all 14 photos to assess the condition for yourself. The dimensions of the coverlet without the fringe are 74” x 94”. This is a heavy coverlet that weighs approximately 7 1/2 lbs.

This coverlet was passed down to me in the 1980s by my mother, who inherited it from her mother in the late 1960s. It has been very well cared for over the years. For the past 20+ years, it has been stored in a large Rubbermaid container and remains in very good condition.
