Awesome looking piece. Beautiful brass has aged out through the black paint on some of the high relief areas.

Here\'s a bit of history I\'ve found through my research on this piece:

Rhino Cavalry Saddle Solid Brass Figure Description It is not known which madman first attempted to ride a rhino. Only that, in Stygia and the Northern Black Kingdoms, there was a sudden surge in rhinocerous based cavalry. There are dozens of reasons why a rhinocerous is a terrible creature to ride into battle - but in the aftermath of a battle where men and horses have been trampled into bloodied lumps underfoot - it is hard to remember them all. This saddle is designed for travel. Although a rhinocerous is not a creature to be ridden for long distances, war does not often let you choose your battlefield. This saddle is for troops in the field, for moving moderate distances in a short periods of time while still keeping the beast healthy. This is presumed to have occured near stygia in Africa.

Stygia is located south of Shem and north of the Black Kingdoms . Much of its borders are defined by the river Styx. Stygia\'s terrain is a mix of mountains, desert, plains, and marshes. South of Stygia are the vast black kingdoms of the Amazons, the Kushites, the Atlaians and the Zembabwei empire.

The Sculpture is approx 21\" long and weighs a hefty 8 lbs.
