Vintage Late 1800\'s / Early 1900\'s, Portable \"The Clark Heater\" Model #5 B Foot Warmer Made by Chicago Flexible Shaft Co.To be clear, I do NOT know much about this item, so I researched it. I know what it is, I have just NEVER seen one in this condition AND with Wood Legs! I honestly don\'t know if this is in MINT/UNUSED condition OR if it was refinished, but it looks never used! You be the judge. When you pull out the drawer that holds the hot coals, it is super clean. The carpet covering looks brand new. The heater has handles on each end for easy transport.
I listed it as \"NEW\" because it appears new and there is no indication of use. To be clear, this is not \"NEW\" as in just made, it is most likely over 100 years old.
Basically, this is a foot warmer designed for wagons, buggies, and early automobiles before they had heat. The heater is made of heavy gauge metal and has a carpet covering to prevent burning your feet. There is a pull-out tray were you would put hot coals. I think that coal was preferred over wood for a longer burn. There are vent holes on the end to allow the coals to burn, but slowly, to give hours of heat.
This heater is clearly marked from \"The Clark Heater Co.\" made by Chicago Flexible Shaft Co. It was marked as Model No.5B. All this can be seen in the pictures.
The legs are VERY perplexing as nowhere can I find a picture or a listing for a Clark Heater Foot Warmer with legs! I don\'t know if the legs were added by the original owner or if this is a heater that was either very rare or never produced (perhaps a mock-up?) The foot warmer measures approximately 12\" wide, about 6\" tall with the handles down, and about 7\" deep.
I took several pictures of the Clark Heater Foot Warmer outside, unfortunately it was cloudy, sorry.
