inches in diameter. In beautiful condition with over 95% of the original silver-plating still intact. While the actual hook for hanging on the reverse is intact, the little flip up triangle metal piece is gone. Hallmarked on back as seen.

This piece can be very confusing to collectors, as close to 100% of the examples that appear for sale (including ones on right now), ARE COPIES MADE AFTER 1950 IN NEW YORK CITY. That\'s right. Unless you see a hallmark of \"Made in Palestine\" on the reverse side, all other examples are copies from New York City. There are good copies, which look just like this plate but have no hallmarks and the reverse side is not finished as well and overall it is not cast as well, it is lighter in weight. Then there are bad copies, like this one that sold on for $1,350, where it is a very poor, cheap casting where the reverse side is not finished at all and it is extremely lightweight, and more startingly, the text in the center is completely different in appearance: these are the most common copies, and a senior citizen friend of mine actually remembers buying one brand new in a box at Gimbels department store in the late 1960\'s.

If you want a real, authentic Bezalel produced example made in Jerusalem circa 1920, this is it. Seen in the last photo is another real one that was offered at Sotheby\'s on March 18, 2004. Given an estimate of $3,000 - $5,000, it sold for $3,750.

Because today so many copies sell as authentic Bezalel made 1920\'s era originals in the $800 - $1,500 range, incredibly, an original like I am offering here would have a difficult time realizing $3,750 in the current marketplace.
