This truly is a stunning Victorian carved mahogany Bracket / Mantel clock. The case incorporates some lovely detailed carvings as can be seen from the photographs. This is a superb clock made by the renowned makers Winterhalder & Hofmeier, GERMANY. A lovely feature is that the movement is quarter striking with a \'ting tang\' strike. If you are looking for an exquisite clock, this one will surly fit the bill.
The top is finished with superb carvings to the front and sides. These wonderful carvings continue above and below the dial. The door opens to access the silvered dial wiich is arched and has the regulation dial to the arch. The dial is set out with Roman Numerals and it is finished with a super pair of shaped fingers. The dial is flanked by lovely carved and reeded columns. The carved detailing continues to the side of the case.
The movement is access via a door to the rear this has a lovely lyle shaped fretted panel which is lined in red fabric. The movement is stamped with with the \' W & H Sch\' which is the trademark for the renowned makers Winterhalder & Hofmeier, GERMANY who made high quality clocks mainly for the English market. In addition this clock comes complete with it\'s winding key and pendulum.The clock is happily ticking away and keeping good time. The clock chimes one \'ting tang\' on the quarter past, two \'ting tangs\' on the half past and three \'ting tangs\' on the quarter to. Finally it then strikes the hours on the hour.
The approximate dimensions are: 9 1/2 inches / 24 cm wide x 6 1/8 inches / 15.5 cm deep x 14 inches / 36 cm high
The clock is Victorian.
CONDITION: The case is in lovely condition just minor knocks / marks commensurate with age as can be seen from the photographs. The clock is happily ticking and striking away and keeping good time.
