Antique C.F. Monroe Wavecrest Baroque Shell 5 1/2\" Hinged Jewelry Box :

Antique Wave Crest Dresser Box or Jewelry Box ishandprinted with a floral design. The box has a 1 1/2\" metal hinge mounted in the metal band around the middle ofthis piece and incorporating a clasp on the opposite side. The box would have originally had a satin lining, however, it is gone. It measures 5 1/4\" diameter and 3 1/8\" tall. In very good condition although the raisedportion of the paint is showing sign of age and wear. These boxes were produced by C.F. Monroe Company of Meriden, Connecticut from around 1890 to 1910 and most were made ofopal wear glass and some out of alabaster. There are no chips or cracks on the box only minor wear on the painted flowers. Please see the pictures for more detail.
