Antique Brown Bess socket bayonet for flintlock musket, engraved 62 & crown/S:

A beautiful & unusual Brown Bess socket bayonet. This is well marked with the number \"62\" engraved into the socket behind the mortise. There is also a proof stamp on the blade of a royal Crown cypher over the letter \"S\". I have never before seen this proof mark on British bayonets.
There is an \"X\" at the base of the blade. Lastly there are letters at the bottom of the socket that have been partially ground off. Still visible is \"B O\" and perhaps \"W\". The surfaces of this bayonet are smooth. The socket has a dark blue-brown patina, and a thick collar at the end.
This unusual piece deserves more research to find out its history.
