Pictured and offered for sale is a antique Jewelry Casket made by Leopold Oudry a highly awarded artist, sculptor from France. This sculptor received high honors for hisability to apply multi colored precious metals over bronze to enhance appearance. Made between the mid and late 1800\'s this casket remains in its original condition having areas of wear off of colored gilding from handling. Sadly, I have seen far too many antique bronzes that have received improper attempts to polish only leading to the removal of the gilded ornamentation, then using paint in aattempt to fixtheir mistakes.
CONDITION: The interior cloth material has areas of wear and staining from use. There is NO damage, dents or dings to the exterior bronze metal. Hinge operates as it did when new, No wobble, not loose, firm. The lid closes as it did when new, having no gaps or any misalignment. Exterior body has dark blackishtarnish mostly on the applied sterling silver. I have NOT attempted to polish the silver for fear of rubbing off the applied sterling gilt which would be a improper Historic restoration. The patina and sheen is very attractive. NO KEY.
