Item Description

Here is a nice 1st Edition book being the classic, \"Court of Napoleon or the Society Under the First Empire\" by Frank Goodrich. Would make a great gift for a special occasion, or keep for yourself!

This book is entitled, \"Court of Napoleon or the Society Under the First Empire\". Written by Frank Goodrich in 1857. Says 1856 on the Publisher\'s Page. This is a 1st Edition book, and was published by Derby & Jackson of New York.

There is no dust cover with this book, not sure if there was originally or not. The cut pages are smooth cut on the top, bottom and sides. Has leather covers and marbled inside pages in front and back. There is gold gilting on the 3 sides of the pages. The illustrations were done by a Jules Champagne. There are 16 color plate of notable females in the French Revolution.

The front cover is still securely attached to the book. The rear cover and marbled page are detached from the book, still with it. Beautiful leather tooling on the front and back covers. Has a fancy \"N\" with a crown above it on both covers. The back one is done in gold gilt. The writing of the title is done in gold gilt on the spine. Beautiful color illustrations throughout the book. 5 raised bands on the spine.

No musty or mildewy smell. Some minor spotting to the first few page. No foxing or brown spotting, or moldiness. Some rub along the edges and minor loss of finish to the covers.

The book is 11.5\" tall, by 8.75\" across, by 2-1/8\" wide. The book is 416 pages in length. Let us know if you have any questions or need additional pictures. Don’t be shy to make anoffer, we are always open to reasonable suggestions.

Youmight find our shipping costs higher than other sellers, but it is due to theextra time, packing care, and materials we utilize. Of over 900 packages shipped last year, wehad only two items with issues, a 99.8% damage free delivery rate. Keep in mind, we are not shipping soft goods, like shirts orpants. We are shipping vintage/antique items that are fragile and requirespecial care.

We also obtain insurance on any item that was bought for $50or more, and require signature on delivery for items that are valued at over$200. Plus we have to pay the 11.75% ofthe final value and shipping fees that and PayPal charges.

Returns are accepted by seller within 14 days of receipt of item where an item is not as described. The Buyer will be assessed a 10% restocking fee should they decide to return this item for whatever the reason.
Please note that a restocking fee is charged toto cover costs related to the loss of listing time and other potential sales, plus the amount of care and time that goes into preparing our unique and fragile items for shipping.
