Glass apothecary jar or bottle made by W.T. & Co. (Whitall Tatum Co., ) of Millville, New Jersey in business from 1875 to 1901. NO damage, NO cracks, NO chips, glass is cloudy from moisture sitting in it which to me, adds to the authenticity of the piece. The reverse painted glass label reads SYR.RHEA (which is Aromatic Syrup ofRhubarb, an alcoholic tincture of rhubarb (15%) andpotassiumcarbonate in syrup that was frequently used as a component in laxatives). On the back of this bottle there is another label from Williams Pharmacy, TheRexall Store, Washington, IN Phone 1780 (!) and the cost of this per ounce was 25¢
This is a small mouth jar with original stopper. Book value for the large apothecary jars in mint condition is $175, reference book \"Drugstore & Soda Fountain Antiques\", printed in 1991. Most book values have doubled in the last 15 years.Bottle is 10 1/4\"H x 3.5\"W x 3.5\"D
