An8 1/2 inch wideORIGINAL ANTIQUE*rare 2 year*calendar plate, dated1911-1912, fromAUBURN WASHINGTON. A very COLORFULplate with a picture of a sunrise/sunset over the mountains, decorated withLAVENDER COLORED FLOWERSwith GREEN FOLIAGE.This is an ORIGINAL ANTIQUE plate, a unique*two year* plate datedl911-1912, well OVER 100 years old, over ONE CENTRY old.

Plate reads: "Compliments of / Christopher Knickerbocker & Howard / Private Bankers / AUBURN, WASH." in gold leaf lettering.
Back reads: There is NO maker's mark on the back of this plate.
Condition: Plate is in good solid condition. It has typical age wear in the form of small scratches/scuffs, minor paint loss, all authenticating what only a century of time can mark a plate with. It hasNOcracks, chips, dings, damage, etc. PLEASE NOTE that the plate holder is NOTpart of this sale, it is just used to prop the plate up to be photographed. (Please see pictures for best idea of overall appearance AND condition of this plate).

Very RARE from the THEN small town ofAuburn Washington. Thebright yellow sun-raysare quite striking and the plate has the proprietors' names advertised on it; Private Bankers! Collecting old calendar plates like this is the ultimate in collecting decorative antiques as they1) have the name of the area, town and state, that they are from,2) have colorful scenes, pictures, designs, logos on them and,3) you can date them which authenticates their place in history!This plate mentions the namesCHRISTOPHER KNICKERBOCKER & HOWARD, the Banker's whom this plate was custom made for. If you looked into the old Auburn Washington Polk City Directories (in local library) from the late 1800 - early 1900 era, you could learn exactly who they were (private bankers???), where they lived, and in the process, document the history of their old business in the annals of Auburn legacy. This plate may be the only tangible evidence to the existence of these people, this business and this building it was in.Antique china plates like this with the 'Compliments of ...' were likely made to celebrate the opening of a business, to commemorate the existence of the business, or even given out to customer's during the holidays or when they paid off a note.
