A beautiful piece of antique early 19thc/1830\'s loom woven linen and wool. A gorgeous & very special bird & floral design in deep indigo, red and mustard.There is also a unique deep pink/red in this when you look closely, really stunning combination.Signedby the weaver John Mellinger & dated 1839. Always rarer to find with the weavers signature.There is some wonderful information about this important weaver on the web.I\'ll be listing a few variations of loom woven wool and linen pieces in separate listings, all from the stock of a former historic fiber artisan.
Measures~ aprox 17\" wide by 35\" long.
Overall very nice for it\'s age. Some loss to the wool, inherent of early wool.
Displays beautifully in a historic Americana or country primitive farmhouse setting and makes lovely pillows and period small upholstery.
