For sale is an amazing potpourri vase with its lid made by Grainger Worcester during the late 19th century . The egg shaped main body of the vase sits on three feet that sit on a clover shaped base. The top of the vase has small oval openings all around surrounded by some nice gold trim. The main body as well as the lid and base have a superb cobalt blue ground color to it, the feet each have a mask / face design to the top and a scroll to the bottom with lots of gilding to it. The lid finial is in the shape of an acorn and both the feet and the finial have an off white ground color to it. The best part however is the decoration around the main body which consists of raised enamels kind of like pate sur pate or Limoges enamel just thicker. There are grasses in white and three colorful butterflies in light blue, pink, white and orange with raised gold highlights. A stunning look and not something one sees too often. Someone really nailed it with the modelling and design on this piece - just stunning! The vase displays perfectly but the finial has been off and reglued, there is a very short and stable hairline to the top edge (between the edge and one of the holes in the rim) and one butterfly has a small chip to the pink enamel color that was colored in a bit to hide it better. Nothing major but it is sadly not entirely perfect anymore. The underside of the base is marked as shown with the number 1 / 776 in purple. The entire vase is 7.875 inches tall with a diameter of about 3 inches around the center. I also have a second vase that is perfect listed on the site if anyone would be interested in a pair.
