A beautiful 19th century French quilted vichy pelmet/valance/bed hanging. Most Likely part of a 4 poster bed hanging.Extremely charming historic French textile.The back s a series of different antique French period patterned cottons.This has an interesting area with pale writing. Am wondering if it helped identify the panel location on the bed for removing & rehanging purpose? Not certain.I will be listing 2 of these (same size) due to a different backing fabric on each in separate listings.I acquired this and some marvelous earlier toile from a lovely country house in Anville, France (Southwestern France). The toile is also shown in my photos and will be listed in a separate listing.Measures~ 15\" tall by 77\" wide.
Condition is overall very nice for it\'s age and former use. Strong. Some slight aging due to former use. Appears overall clean albeit a few small marks shown n my photos and patina to the back.
