For sale is a fun little piece that is a bit of a mystery. A little creamware putto figurine made either in England or Italy in the 18th century and probably a lid to a larger piece. A really cute little guy kneeling on a little base with a purple cloth strategically placed over his mid section while leaning on an upside down torch. The base has a decorative trim around the edge. The piece is of very good quality but I am not so sure he has been free standing all these years. The bottom edge looks ground and the underside looks too unrefined to have been made this way I am assuming. Might have been the top to a larger piece?? The figure is in great condition with a firing crack going around the center of the base as shown which affects the ankle area of his back foot a bit. A little wear from age and some overall crazing but all in all very nice! It is not marked but like I said I think he was part of a larger piece. Maybe someone out there knows more. Either way a very cute and good quality piece that looks great the way it is. The piece is 3.125 inches tall with a base diameter of about 2 inches.
