Antique/1862-88 Pinder Bourne & Co. England 2-Handle Footed Open Display Bowl:
$400.00

Antique/1862-88 Large Pinder Bourne & Co. Double-Handled and Footed Open Display Bowl \"Japanese\" Influence in Celadon Green and Oxblood Red.Highly glazed, having a rolled rim, \'Bundled and Tied Bamboo\' handles, and a footed base. The style is \'open\' without a top/lid, the bowl being both wide and shallow, making it suitable for fruit or other \'display\' items or \'as is\' due to the delicately rendered Japanese-influenced design. Possibly in the \'Aesthetic Movement\' -style(1860-1900 made popular by Sargent, Whistler, the Pre-Raphaelites, and other artists of the time who had \'discovered\' Japanese art but far more subtle than some examples.Rich midrange Greenish-Gray(Celadon) with Deep Oxblood(Sang De Boeuf) Red. VERY glossy finish.Thin and fine lines of Oxblood Red showcasing traditional Japanese objects such as a fan and flower sprays are scattered along both the inside and outside of the bowl.Excellent quality, with NO chips, cracks, hairlines, fleabites, fading, staining, or loss of color. Some crazing seen deep under the glaze on the foot and a few scattered pinhead-size or smaller \'dimples\' in the glaze in the bottom of the inside of the bowl that don\'t photograph.Sturdy and stable with no rocking or wear along the base/foot.Incised \'\'Pinder Bourne & Co. England\'\' mark on the under bottom rim; in business with this name from 1862-88. Then bought by Doulton.
