A very old and unique bar brooch. Ship emblem with US NAVAL ACADEMY and what looks to be the Latin motto at the bottom. Safety pin style catch on the backside still holds this old piece reasonably secure. This pin is extremely old, possibly from 1800s. It has the appearance of either being gold plated or filled, but is not hallmarked. Over all, it looks to be in pretty good condition for as old as it is. Only flaw to note is discoloration on the trident at the top of the emblem. This would make an outstanding addition to a serious USN collection, as I cannot find the existence of any other like this through my research. Approximately 3\"x.5\"
