Please note that this was found stuck inside a photo album at each corner on the rear with a very weak glue, so may show minor creases and may have old album backing paper stuck to the rear, etc.The image measures approximately 19x19cm (7.4” x. 7.4”).
There is a story behind this. Ann Blyth, an Irish-American (her mother being from Dublin), was in London in 1951 filming “I’ll Never Forget You” at short notice replacing another actor and made the decision to fly to Dublin to meet her relatives (with her adoptive parents joining her later) before embarking on a tour of Europe (presumably taking advantage of being in England). It does appear that whoever took the photos had access to decent equipment and knew how to use it, so the photos are well exposed and developed well. My guess is that a photographer on the local newspaper took them as some similar photos to those in the album appear in press clippings kept by the relative.This particular photograph was kept by an Irish relative in an album, along with a number of others. Some were taken professionally, and some by relatives with basic cameras. A number of them are quite intimate (in a family sense) and show the young star visiting estranged family members. I have no idea if these photos were ever published. Please check out my other items for further photographs. The relative (who later became a nurse in London) kept press cuttings, press photos, these photos taken locally, and also family photos of her famous relative.This is a one-of-a-kind and I have not retained a copy (physical or electronic and I do not have the negative). I will not be selling copies of this - this will be the only opportunity to purchase this image.
This photo will be sent in a postal box (think of a pizza box), and NOT an envelope. It costs slightly more to send this way, and the boxes aren’t cheap, but it ensures the photo arrives in the condition you would expect.
