R DETAILS: Originalgelatin silver photograph of a group ofmenatop horseson a mountain top in Wyoming. Circa 1886. We believe they are soldiers and scouts from Fort Fetterman. Its hard to make out, but if you look closely you can see that some of the men appear to be wearing maxing some kind of matchinguniforms (soldiers?). In the far background further up the hill you can make out other riders and wagons.Again, if you look closely you can also see what appears to be flagsflyingatop the caravanwhich is indicative of some kind of military presence.Measures 6\" x 4\" inches.
BACKGROUND:This photo came with from a collection of 1880 Wyoming photos taken around the CrazyWoman Creek area. The area was notoriousfor lawlessness, robbers and bad cowboys during this time.The US Army had troops stationed at nearby Fort Fetterman.
