On September 18, 1976 (in connection with the 125th anniversary of the New York Times), the U.S. Postal Service issued thisAdolph S. Ochs13¢ gummed stamp in New York, NY.The stamp art is by Bradbury Thompson, based on a portrait byS.J. Woolf.

When he was 19, Adolph S. Ochs borrowed $250 from his family to buy the failing Chattanooga Times and become the publisher. Eighteen years later, he purchased the New York Times, became the majority stockholder, and served as the paper\'s publisher from 1896 until his death in 1935. He also coined the motto, \"All the News That\'s Fit to Print\", which remains on the paper today.
