AUTHENTIC VINTAGE 6-LAYER 35 MM CHEVRON ROSETTA BEAD
This is an authentic vintage 6-layer chevron or rosetta bead. When you look at the bead from the end, a 12-point star pattern is visible. It is difficult to ascertain the age of these beads, because the production of 6-layer chevrons made for the African trade always remained the same, but it would have been made in Venice any time between the early 19th century to about 1920 and possibly as late as 1950, when all production of 4- and 6- layer chevrons stopped. It is in great vintage condition, with some chipping around the hole and also some pitting around the bead. The colours are cobalt, brick and white in six layers. Dimensions: 1 3/8\" (35 mm) long by 15/16\" (25 mm) in diameter.
