This is an authentic vintage 6-layer chevron or rosetta bead. When you look at the bead from the end, a 12-pointstar pattern is visible. It is difficult to ascertain the age of these beads, because the production of 6-layer chevronsmade for the African trade always remained the same, but it would have been made in Venice any time betweenthe early 19th century to about 1920 and possibly as late as 1950, when all production of 4- and 6- layer chevronsstopped. It is in good vintage condition, with some minor pitting and no chipping around the hole. The colours arecobalt, brick and white in six layers. Dimensions:1 1/4\" (33 mm) long by 7/8\" (22 mm) in diameter.
