ANTIQUE c1880 B&D BAWO & DOTTER ELITE LIMOGES GOLD TRIMMED WHITE COFFEE POT:

Maker: On the base of this elegant antique coffee pot is the red decorator\'s backstamp of Elite Works, also known as Bawo & Dotter, one of the great Limoges firms at the turn of the last century. Age: According to the third edition of the Collector\'s Encyclopedia of Limoges Porcelain by Mary Frank Gaston, backstamp number 3 was in use in the 1880s, making this coffee pot at least 132 years old and perhaps older.
An old handwritten label on the base confirms its long history. It reads: \"Your Great Grandma Grabie\'s\". Design: A simple gold band and a richly gold-accented spout against a pure white fine porcelain background make the coffee pot a statement in classic elegance.
Size: The pot is 7 7/8 inches tall without the lid and 9 1/2 inches wide between the tip of the spout and the far end of the handle. The two pieces weigh 2 pounds 5 ounces. Condition: The base has no marks, nicks, chips, cracks, scratches, stains or repairs. There is a tiny chip on the underside of the lid and the small lid lock has been damaged - these are shown in the photo with the penny. Both pieces have significant gold wear and that too can be seen in the photos. Please check all the photos very carefully - they are an important part of the description.
