ANTIQUE AMERICAN STONEWARE WAX SEAL TWO TONE CANNING JAR CROCK MAKERS MARK SSCO (Star Stoneware Crooksville Ohio) ON BOTTOM This is an antique canning jar or crock possibly from the 1800\'s. This is a salt glazed crock with a dark brown \"Albany Slip\" on the top. The wide mouth lip in the interior would hold a metal lid placed on the top. Wax was then poured into the indention to seal the jar. The design was short lived because either the seal did not work or the crocks were broken when they were opened. 7.75\" t X 3.75\" Across top, 4.75\" Across botton. The bottom has a faint impressed marking of \"SSCO\" My crock has two flaws, a lip chip, and a spider crack on one side. I have included photos of each.
