Spectacular and large 14” hand painted Marie Antoinette portrait “vase” (does not hold flowers) with courting couple style scene of the famed lady with her beau King Louis XVI. The lid which is typically where the markings are is missing, but I’ve had several of these over the years and this piece is most certainly of the style and era. Artist signed Denis which was a Sevres artist in the Marie Antoinette era named Denis Leve- though I cannot say he is the artist. There are two small flaws- one is a crack/fracture near the portrait which can be seen clearly noted in photos. The other is under one of the brass fittings and can only be seen when the base is turned over. Gold trim is lightly textured in areas. Top brass fitting is clean and displays beautifully even without a lid, giving it more a vase look than urn. Apologies for the amount of glare marks in photos- any sort of white circle / lines is glare from the round lights.
