VIVID ANTIQUE RED & GREEN IRISH CHAIN QUILT c 1880s

An interesting Double Irish Chain quilt from the 1880\'s.HAND PIECED using a white paisley on red or an overdyed green print for the 2\" pieces and white cotton for the background. Measuring 83\" x 74\", it has a thin cotton batting with seed fragments and a binding made by bringing 1/4\" of the border fabric to the back. HAND QUILTED with diamond quilting on the pieces, an unusual wreath pattern on the background (see photos), and angle quilting across the frame and border @ 8 to 10 stitches per inch. Freshly HAND LAUNDERED, we found a couple old sew-ups, a couple smallholes, and a couple light spots.
