This is an antique crayon portrait I think. It is unframed and measures 14 x 11 1/2 inches. When I purchased these at an estate sale I wasn't sure whether it was a photo or a painting. I did some research and it appears to be what is called a crayon portrait. It definitely appears to be charcoal and chalk. There is no maker mark or date on the back. There is a name and address. Researched and there are many Prairie Lanes across the country. Age unknown since I don't have the expertise to date the photo. though likely 1800’s. There are two matting whereas both are damaged. The back side appears to have had a board back when it was framed there is a silhouette of wood grain…Check out the photos.
