ANTIQUE BLUE FLOW TRANSFERWARE PLATE, SHANGHAE, JF & CO, JACOB FURNIVALS, c1840:

Maker: This wonderful antique blue flow plate is by England\'s Furnival, which produced beautiful ironstone in Stoke-on-Trent, England, under a variety of names from the mid-1800s until the factory closed in 1968.
Age: On the back is a cartouche mark with an attribution to J.F. & Co., for Jacob Furnivals & Co. The mark was in use from 1845 to 1870, making that the latest this plate could have been produced.
Design: The classic blue flow transferware pattern is called Shanghae. It features a traditional Asian riverside scene of pagodas.
Size: The plate is 7 1/2 inches wide and weighs 9.2 ounces. Condition: There are no nicks, chips, cracks or repairs. There is major crazing throughout, significant wear to the edges and a series of old spots on the back where the paint is missing.
This gorgeous old plate displays well and would be a wonderful addition to any collection of blue flow or other beautiful china.
