This is one of 2 pouches given to my grandfather and his brother, shortly after they were orphaned. In 1907, they were sent from Illinois to central Minnesota (around the lake Mille Lacs area), to live with their uncle. Upon arrival in Minnesota, their uncle gave them one of these pouches and each pouch contained a silver dollar. My great uncle didn\'t want his pouch so he gave his to my grandfather, but kept the silver dollar. The silver dollars were spent long ago but this beautiful pouch remains.
The pouch is beaded on both sides, and I am fairly certain it is made from deerskin. The approximate dimensions are 7.25\" by 3.75\".
