Legio III Italica - Legiotertia Italica (\"Italian Third Legion\") Emblem Stork - was a legion ofthe Imperial Roman army founded in AD 165 by the emperor MarcusAurelius (r. 161-80), for his campaign against the Marcomanni tribe. Thecognomen Italica suggests that the legion\'s original recruits were mainly drawnfrom Italy. The legion was still active in Raetia and other provinces in theearly 5th century (Notitia Dignitatum, dated ca. 420 AD for Western RomanEmpire entries).

This is a rare and unique ancient Roman silver ring, dating back to AD 165 and belonging to the third legion of Italica.
