James D Bostock was an original member of the 9th Battalion AIF WW1. His diary provides the details of his service from joining to his return to Australia after being wounded on Gallipoli. The further significance of his service and diary is that he is confirmed as being the second soldier to rush ashore at Anzac on the 25th April 1915. His day to day diary entries provide the reader with a life and times feel of the experiences endured by all the men of the original 9th Battalion. As they come to terms with leaving family and Australia on what was seen by many as a great adventure, then to be shocked by the reality of war that friends do suffer and die. This diary has never been reproduced before and is a publication of the 9th Battalions Association.
