Please review all pictures closely for overall condition and size, as this helps form the overall condition/description of the item. Wear is consistent with age and use. In very good condition overall. Big envelope has some wear, pictured, sturdy still. The old paper between the maps has some discoloration from time, rips, etc. Some of the maps have some light scratches, small light/slight crease in an area on the right side, not completely folded over. Mostly wear from being taken out/stored. Nothing major. Maps look great and have nice detail and clarity.
There\'s 4 different maps that have either a copy of the same size, or a slightly smaller copy. The size of the bigger ones are 14 5/8\" Squared and the small ones are 13.25\" X 12 5/8\". All say \"RESTRICED\" and are marked BU aero - U.S Navy with a stock # and the maker G. Felsenthal & sons Chicago. It seems to depict or have information of airfields, important Japanese areas, bases, etc. We believe this was information that would become available during war and they could place it over maps already in use, to use this information that is on these clear overlays.
We got them out of an Army Air Force Officer\'s collection, we\'re unsure if the AAF was using them or if the Navy was using them, or both. I\'m sure it\'d be relevant information to all of them. It shows the Philippine sea/Saipan, Hiroshima, Fukuyama, Okinawa, China and more. An incredible and interesting collection.
