Lot of 6 Cards of Endicott Johnson factories in the Endicott and Johnson City area.
Some of these views show Industrial settings in Lestershire NY where the Heavy Work Shoe Factory was. In 1916 Lestershire was renamed Johnson City in honor of the founder of the company George Johnson. It was called the home of the Square Deal for the good pay and employee policies.My favorite of this lot is the view of the interior of the Heavy work shoe factory with all the workers looking at the camera on the factory floor. There is interesting machinery running on overhead belts.
Note the rail yards around the leather tannery and the heavy work shoe factory. The history of this company is quite interesting; it was considered one of the most progressive large manufacturers in how it treated its workers. Many immigrants came there to work from hearing about their worker friendly policies such as helping with home purchases. It built the local area up and signs of the business are still around today long after it folded up as manufacturing left our country.
The two cards that are postmarked show dates of 1910 and 1920. One of the 6 has a creased corner.Free shipping by standard envelope. International buyers inquire for pricing.
