Crafted in the United States in the 1950s, this lamp features elegant brass accents and harp strings. Perfect for collectors and lovers of vintage decor, this lamp is a must-have addition to your collection. It has been lovingly preserved and is in excellent working condition.This classic styled mid-century modern lamp is an iconic lamp from the 1950's the dawn of the mid-century modern period and oftentimes referred to as retro or vintage which simply means displaying a lamp, like the one in this listing, today rather than in the 1950's and vintage is a term used to describe an item that is at least 60 years old and neither sum up this lamp as well as mid-century modern does as the mid-century modern period in interior decorating and interior design fields of the time period relied on using man-made raw materials that were later refined to make this marvelous table lamp. The porcelain enamel shade, the solid yellow brass accents on the ends of the shade and on the neck of the lamp that arches over say a tabletop, the harp and its four steel wires, the solid steel plate at the base of the lamp with a recessed porcelain enamel disk inserted into the steel plate, and underneath this steel plate is a heavy piece of cast iron to hold the lamp upright and in place on a tabletop or desktop. The mid-century moderns were were met by resistance by craftsman of the time period who relied on organic materials like solid woods, hammered metals, etc. and this ideology and dichotomy prevails even today man-made vs hand-crafted and both have merits in and of themselves.This graceful lamp that looks like an elegant harp in an orchestra measures differently depending on the angle you want to adjust it to. I am going to measure it as it looks in my pictures above at approximately a 45-degree angle. It measures 12" tall X 12" across the top of the shade X 5 1/2" across the harp X 4 1/2" in diameter across the base, and this item is in excellent working condition and thee bulb is included in the sale so you may take it out of the box and turn it on right away. The switch (red arrow pointer above) needs to be positioned in the middle not the left or right of it.Good luck! Any questions? Email me right away!
