The 1949 Bowman Wild West Set (R701-19) contains 180 cards divided into 8 subsets. The cards measure 2 1/16" x 2 1/2" and depict people and scenes from the Wild West. The back of the cards list subset name, title of the card, and a description of the person or scene being depicted on the front. The set was wildly popular upon release and Bowman adjusted supply for each print run to match the projected demand for the cards. This resulted in cards from later issues (the higher #'s of each subset) to have significantly more value than the previous cards.

1949 Bowman Wild West trading cards were a massive hit for the gum company and would be one of its best selling sets to date. The 180 card set is broken up into eight subsections all with a different alpha prefix.
