4 pc Moroccan Agate Nodule Cut and Polished (AG22):

This is a unique and colorful set of 4 agate slices, cut and polished in-house that display the amazing variety and beauty of this mineral. The agate is embedded in a matrix of chert, a hard and fine-grained sedimentary rock that is mostly composed of silica. The chert has a dominant grey color, but also shows some green, yellow, red and blueish hues that create an abstract and artistic pattern. The agate has a chalcedony layer inside, which is a form of microcrystalline quartz that has a waxy luster and can be translucent or opaque. The chalcedony has a striking red color that is characteristic of the Moroccan region, where this agate was found. The agate measures 2 inches long at the widest and 1 3/4 inches tall. It is cut into three pieces, two end pieces and a fully polished center slab. The center slab reveals the contrast between the chert matrix and the chalcedony layer, as well as the intricate banding and texture.
