Directed by Chuck Jones and Maurice Noble for Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer,The Dot and the Lineis a beloved experimental showcase of color and shape, deftly anthropomorphizing basic geometric forms to create relatable human drama. The two 12 field cels feature the dot and the line, and the cel depicting the dot is signed by Chuck Jones himself. It bears a Linda Jones seal, and this piece is also accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity. Included in this lot is an original animation drawing of the dot and the line, created for the moments seen at the 7:47 mark of the short. This piece is rendered in color pencil on 12 field animation paper, and it is numbered 38-L in the lower right. It also bears a Linda Jones seal and is accompanied by a Linda Jones Certificate of Authenticity. The cels bear the notations CJ 7792-031-021 and X23 1/2 along the bottom edge, and each piece shows minor handling and edge wear. Reminiscent of the abstract paintings of Piet Mondrian, the condition of this wonderful artwork is EXCELLENT.
