Reverse painting on glass is a technique invented in ancient China and in modern day times has become quite widespread however the technique is extremely difficult to achieve for the best results. The china painter is faced with the daunting task of painting images on glass from the inside of these marvelous blown glass ginger jars so that the images, native birds of China in the case of the jars in this listing, the birds are displayed across each jar in natural poses resting on cherry branches showing their blossoms, buds, stems, and leaves and after the birds are painted from the from the inside of the three jars showing on the outside the entire inside of the jars are painted in a beautiful bright beige coloring also from the inside of the jars and this beige coloring is the background color behind all of the birds on all three jars. Adding to the charm of this dying art, as reverse painting on glass is done so infrequently because of its level of difficult, is some 24KK ,gold foil pin striping around the outside edge of the lids and around the base of the three jars and gold foil is gold leaf that is rolled into this sheets of 24K gold about 0,08" thick.
