3 Antique/Vintage Park Lane Hotel London Art Postcards with pen and line illustrations of three hotel interiors, signed \"G.M. Ellwood 26\" (1926?).
The artist seems most likely to be George Montague Ellwood (1875-1955), distinguished artist, furniture and interior designer whose work also includes London Underground poster design (1912-1914) and writing several books on drawing, design and advertising.
Condition is listed as \"used\" in the sense of \"pre-owned\"; they are unused.
If the \"26\" under the artist\'s signature is, indeed, 1926, perhaps these were produced in advance of the hotel\'s grand opening in 1927? Or artist renderings made during the hotel design process of what was envisioned for the new hotel and then used for postcards? 3.5\" x 5.5\"Stone/neutral typical medium-weight postcard paper, illustrations in brown ink; reverse text in similar yet softer brownDivided back with Park Lane crest and wording \"It is the first Hotel in the British Isles to be built with a fully-equipped bathroom in every bedroom.\"The Lobby Lounge - open and airy, greater focus on interior design (echoes of which can be seen in more recent photos of the Palm Court lounge and dining areas) The Restaurant - very busy dining scene with diners (and their period dress) prominent while also showing off the scale of the room; this card has the least paper age; The Smoke Room - opulent scale but with fireplace and winged chair coziness and privacy of a gentleman\'s club; lightly foxed
