In 1868 maritime navigation is threatened by the devastating actions of what many believe to be a sea monster. The US Navy sends a frigate to investigate the incidents. On board is, among others, the experienced harpooner Ned Land. In the first confrontation with the \"monster\", the ship sinks and only three men survive. They are saved by a submarine, the Nautilus, designed, built and commanded by Captain Nemo, on20,000 Leagues Under the Sea.
