2 Rare Antique TransferwareDisplay Plates Charles Allerton & Sons England

Hard to find Asian themed plates date to early 1900's.

The company was in business between 1859 and 1942.It was sold in 1912 and the name changed to Allerton's Ltd. The backstamp indicates thatthe plates were made sometime before 1912.

1) The handled one is approx. 9 1/2" at the widest point. It is perhapsmore of a shallow bowl.

Some scratches which do not show in photos but can be seen when held to light. Faint paint over run below the central image. (see photo)

2) The second plate has the same Asian scene with alight brown color. It is approx. 9 1/8" in diameter.

There is some discoloration under the glaze on the front and back. Two rough spots can be felt on the rim where the glaze is not even.

Mark on back reads " C.A. & Sons England "
