tar_border1st EMPIRE INFANTRY OFFICER'S SABER WITH SHEATH/NapoleonExceptional saber of the Grande Armée.It has never been the subject of an official regulation, it is however this variant, one of the most used sabers on the battlefields of the Napoleonic era.It appears around 1800 and often takes the name of this date.It is distinguished by a frame with a single branch with a constricted cap ending in a cupola in the shape of melon ribs.The rectangular handle is made of wood, checkered ebony style, the quillon of the main branch is curved into a double striated button.The guard branch is at right angles to the cruise, fixed by hook in the cap.It has a large oblong pearl in the middle, flanked by two mounts and two shuttle-shaped mumps underlined with a chamfer.The blade, certainly from Solingen, is curved but with a slight arrow, long.71 cm, heel 3 cm wide.Blade engraved with foliage and military trophies, curved blade with groove and carp tongueBlackened leather scabbard with 2 brass fittings, cut into brackets.Slightly unstitched in the middle (see photo)This saber bears witness to the battles of the Imperial era.
