HAND-PAINTED MYTHOLOGICAL CHARGER FRAMEDAND MOUNTED BEHIND A MAUVE VELVET SURROUND.
This charger is gorgeous! It features a hand painted neoclassic mythological scene witha pondering lady on a beautifully cloth draped benchwith winged cherubs around her. One cherub is whispering in her ear as the others look on with curiosity.
The condition of this piece is excellent. There are no chips, cracks, hairlines or signs of crazing to be found. There is one tiny blemish on the upper right quadrant of the charger. It is tiny and barely noticeable! see photo. There is no paint loss to this hand painted Gem!
This Charger measures approximately 13" in diameter the frame measures 17 1/2" Square.
As shown in the photos this piece is signed in several different ways. It is signed on the bottom beneath the train of the lady's dress. This signature is difficult to make out. On the back it is signed Rah. Pilz ,Vienna in one place and Traum in another. It appears there may have been some kind of maker's mark in a rust color in the center but was smeared, so illegible. There is also an incised number 33 and beneath it the number 4. Please see all photos as I consider them an integral part of the item description.The stapled cardboard backing to the frame was removed to see the back of the charger. It will be shipped with the backing off.
