All of these historical documents and autographs and ephemera that I am listing came out of a 19th century scrapbook that I purchased about 30 years ago. I am finally getting around to removing many of the items which includes numerous historical autographs, and paper ephemera. I have not authenticated any of these but some have information on them which will give you information on age. This sale is for a 19th century photograph of Nathan Harper, founder of the City of Plainfield, New Jersey and late 19 th century Mayor of that City. Measures about 4 1/2” by 5 1/2” with creases a tear along the right shoulder area and scrapbook remnants on reverse.

Nathan Harper was born in 1817 in Frankfort, Pennsylvania and died in Plainfield in 1893. He served as a local Judge and was an active member of the Society of Friends. He was credited with gaining Plainfield its first city charter and was involved with numerous business and civic entities.
