I am offering for sale an early 19th Century Gilt Bronze French Officer\'s Epee Sword with Mother of Pearl grips and a blade with etchings of military motifs. The clam shell guard depicts a Roman warrior battling a dragon. The front grip sports a medallion. The handle is made of bronze and covered in gold (gilt).

This model is a variation of that shown in the authoritative book titled Epees Portees en France des Origines a Nos Jours by Jean L’hoste as figure 779 on page 413. It is in excellent condition with minor, age appropriate wear to the blade. Each of the Mother of Pearl grips have a minor chip on the upper left corner. It measures 37 3/4\" long from the top of the pommel to the tip of the blade. There is no scabbard.
