19th C. French Spelter Boy & Girl Figural Urn-Shaped 13 1/2\" Vases Marble Bases:

Recent North Carolina estate find. Offering a stunning, what we believe, mid to late 1800\'s (possibly earlier), 13 1/2\" French figural spelter vases created in a neoclassical style. Looks to be a matching, somewhat interactive pair; one with a boy and the other, a girl, both reaching for grapes. Beautiful rouge veined marble bases attached to the vases, with what looks to be a hand made square shaped nuts. The boy vase\'s base is just slightly loose. Based on age and potentially damaging the hardware, we didn\'t attempt to tighten the nut as it is just slight and has no impact on the piece nor display value. Both pieces have one small repair in the same area on each piece. One basket handle at the top on each looks to be repaired (see last two photos). Each seems to be stable and secure. Other than these inclusions, overall excellent condition. Great patina on the spelter vases with some very light luster loss, but extremely exceptional. The marble bases show some aging, but are in outstanding condition. We left these pieces as they were found and did not attempt to clean any surfaces other than lightly wiping down. Both of the underside marble bases look to be marked with a number (see photos). Considering the age of these vases, they are in overall outstanding condition and display amazingly well.
